One rule of thumb to remember when searching for discount software on the Internet is that you should always be certain that the company that you are dealing with is a licensed distributor. If you are going to cough up a few hundred dollars for a computer program, then you want to be sure that you are getting an original copy that you can register with your own name. On occasion, I have heard about some websites that sell software that is bootlegged or copied, and this is very illegal.

Believe it or not, Amazon.com is a great place to look for cheap software. I recently was in the market for Adobe Photoshop, and I was worried that I would have to buy the whole Adobe CS3 production suite from somewhere for thousands of dollars. Fortunately, I checked with Amazon.com and they were selling Adobe Photoshop 7 for $289. This is an older version, of course, and if I really wanted the newest version it would still only cost me $625.

If there is a particular program or software suite that you are interested in, then the first thing to do is visit the official website for the company that makes that software. At the website, you will be able to find a list of the different retailers and distributors that sell the program that you are interested in.
